These terms explain the rules for using Sift, including summaries, saved material, book requests, subscriptions, purchases, and service availability.
Using Sift
Sift provides book summaries, reading progress tools, saved highlights, reminders, and related features. By using Sift, you agree to use the service lawfully and in a way that does not harm the app, other users, or the systems that support it.
Accounts
Sift may use anonymous authentication to create an app account for syncing your reading activity and preferences. You are responsible for activity that happens through your app installation or account identifier.
Content
Sift summaries are provided for convenience, learning, and discovery. They are not a replacement for the original books. Book titles, author names, covers, and third-party metadata may belong to their respective owners.
Your Saved Material
You may save books, posts, and excerpts in the app. You are responsible for how you use saved excerpts and shared summary content. Do not use Sift to infringe rights or distribute content in ways that are unlawful.
Book Requests
If you request a book, Sift may use your request to prioritize future summaries. A request does not guarantee that a book will be added, available, or published.
Free and Paid Features
Sift is a freemium app. Some features may be available for free, and some features may require a paid subscription or another in-app purchase. Free features, paid features, limits, pricing, trial availability, and promotional offers may change over time.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed through the App Store unless otherwise stated. Subscription prices, billing periods, free trials, renewal terms, and included features are shown in the app before purchase.
Auto-renewable subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through your Apple Account settings. Apple terms apply to billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds.
If a payment fails, a subscription expires, or a purchase cannot be verified, Sift may limit access to paid features until the issue is resolved.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to interfere with Sift, attempt unauthorized access, abuse Firebase or other backend systems, scrape the service at scale, submit harmful requests, or use the app in a way that violates applicable law.
Availability
Sift may change, pause, remove, or discontinue features at any time. We aim to keep the app reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that every summary or feature will always be available.
Disclaimers
Sift is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent allowed by law, Sift disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent allowed by law, Sift will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses related to your use of the service.
Changes
We may update these terms as Sift evolves. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
